Long Distance Romances

This week's Toon Club topic is "Ancient Egypt." I wanted to portray the long distance romance of Marc Antony and Cleopatra. Back in 1999 my wife and I were dating and partying like it was 1999. One of our first dates was to a Halloween party when we dressed up like Marc Antony and Cleopatra. Just like the real couple, we had our own long-distance relationship. Although we didn't travel from Rome to Egypt to see each other on the weekends, (more like several hours) the distance didn't seem so far because we were in love. Aaaaaahhh.

Here's a picture of our date! As you can see, we were MUCH better looking than the real Marc Antony and Cleopatra..... We're even MORE attractive now!

A cleaner, simpler, more mono-toned time.

Here's some illustrations I recently did for a series of short stories about a kid growing up in the 50's and his Idahoan experiences.

Zions Bank Jr.

Last year, Richter 7 had me do a bunch of illustrations for Zions Bank. It was an online animated flash game called Cash Back Boulevard. Last week they wanted a matching bumper page for a website called Zions Bank Jr. This is the outcome. It has the same feel as Cash Back Boulevard, but is not animated, not a game, and is a bit brighter. What a boring explanation that was.

Pile of Posts

Here's some of my Toon Club posts from the past few weeks. You've probably already seen them, here they are again. The topics were: King Kong, Water, & The land before time.

Pig Places

After redesigning the characters of Pig Tales for Feature Films for Families. I moved on to their backgrounds. I didn't realize working on backgrounds could be so much fun! I had a great time doing these. As you can see, I'm a big fan of Disney's Sleeping Beauty and I used a lot of reference from the film for inspiration for the new Pig Tales background style. Eyvind Earle did the coolest stuff for that movie, I could never come close to anything he's ever done, but I tried to emulate a few of his techniques only in more of a poor man's, cartoony, digital, Illustrator form..... Surely he's turning over in his grave after that statement.

Super Heroes

I used to love to draw super heroes as a kid. It's been a long time since I've drawn any, like 15 years. Here's a bunch of them, everyone I could think of except Spiderman. This took a long time and should tide me over for another 15 years.
